It has been almost 3 months since my last stat update. I’ve been rather busy but i have pretty good results to share this time:

3 months shows a large increase. Hopefully this trend will continue and even get better as time goes by.

So my last idea was to interact with my friends and subscribers on YouTube. To do this, i made an episode of TC’s Words of Wisdom called Questions for TC. In this episode, I asked that all of my ‘fans’ come up with a question to ask TC. At the end of the cycle, i will pick 5-6 questions and TC will answer them in my next episode. I didn’t really think i’d have too much luck with this. But i did. I’ve had the videoposted for about 3 or 4 days and i’ve already gotten several questions. I’ve even gotten 3 video responses to the video. It’s fun to see what questions people come up with for a carrot to answer. It’s even more awesome that people take the time to make their own videos to ask TC questions. It’s really an honor to see all the effort others put into it. I recieved a message from one of the YouTubers today to ask me a question. He said he had been wanting to ask that question to one of the “big name YouTubers” for a while. That made me smile! Someone sees me as a big name youtuber! It felt good. I’m having a lot of fun on this particular project. It really seems to work for my audience.
So i’ve recently had an idea with my character TC. I had 2 problems: I wanted a way to get my audiance/fans involved, and I’ve had trouble coming up with Words of Wisdom. So my current project (along with finishing Where’s Nate) is making a series of TCs Words of Wisdom where fans write, or post video responses and ask TC questions. And in my next video, i’ll answer about 5 or 6 of their questions. Hopefully this will get users involved and boost my ratings. We’ll see. Right now i’m working on the video where TC tells everyone to ask him questions. Hopefully it will be complete by the end of next week.

Sometime this past week i discovered something that made me feel like a complete idiot.
So I’ve been using Tube Toolbox for about 6 months now. It’s helped me to send out messages to YouTube users. On an average day, it allowed me to send about 200 messages. For a while, when YouTube changed their messageing restrictions, there would be days that i couldn’t even send out 10 messages.
This past week, i was reading a post on the Tube ToolBox forum. It was someone complaining that they couldn’t send out as many messages anymore. Then they said that they could still “share about videos with about 1000 users a day”… wait a minute what? So I immediately opened up the toolbox to check it out. There is a “Share Video with users” option. Why did i not see this before? So I immediately started sending out my videos to users.
The “Share video” option, allows you to send a video to up to 5 users on each sending cycle. In no time, i had a video sent to over 1000 users. HECK YEAH! I loved it. So i started gathering users and started sharing videos. Now, It seems that i can share a video with about 1000-1500 users a day. How did i miss this option for 6 months??? This will definately boost up my views and hopefully friends and subscribers as well!
Like i said, I felt like an idiot!!!
So its been a while since i’ve written an entry on my blog. I haven’t really had much to talk about concerning my cartoons. I’ve put out one new episode of TC’s words of wisdom since my last post. (i’ll post it at the bottom of this entry) It’s gotten pretty decent responses so far. I’ve started using the annotations feature that YouTube offers to put links to my other videos at the end of each video. I’m not really sure how good they work, but i’m sure they work pretty well.
My number of subscibers hasn’t increased as fast as it has in the past. I think that has to do with a few things. First, i was running into some trouble with TubeTool Box. Well, not really with the tool box, but YouTube changed their sending limits on messages to decrease the amount of SPAM sent out. So for a while i wasn’t getting any messages sent out at all. Some days it would send no more than 2 or 3 messages. It was annoying as crap, but just something i had to deal with. It’s all better now. The next reason i haven’t been getting as many subscribers is because i’m trying to push a second channle (my thevegietables channel http://youtube.com/thevegietables) I’m trying to get it added as a partnered channel, so that i can profit from videos on both channels.
I’ve also made some facebook pages for randall p studios (http://facebook.com/randallpstudios) and a page for the vegietables (doesn’t get a url until it gets 25 fans) i’m trying to use them to promote my cartoons a little bit. It doesn’t work as well as working on YouTube but its an easier way for fans to keep up because people stay on facebook 24-7. I’ll do a blog later about facebook pages and my strategies on getter likes.
As of the past 2 weeks, things with my animation have been moving really slowly. I’ve been splitting my time up between a school project and a small side job i got filling in a spreadsheet, and black ops of course. So as soon as they are done, i should be back to my animation.

I’ve been a little discouraged at my subscribers and views on my page because YouTube has set new sending limits on messages…but here are my stats

As you can see, my number of new subscribers and friends has decreased dramatically concerning its been a month and a half since my last update. I’m going to post a little more about that on my next journal entry.

I have been running 2 versions of Tube ToolBox. So far i haven’t seen a significant increase in my subscribers and friends but then again those people are subscribing to my other channels. Here are the totals of Subscribers and friends from my other channels combined:

So for a while now i have been trying to think of a good short. I want The Vegie-Tables to take a new direction. I want to start making longer episodes that an audience can actually get into. The poblem there is that it takes forever to make one. So I was trying and trying to think of something i could make as a short, so that i can make more episodes, while still working on my main episode. My idea was to simply have a character talking to the audience, giving them some “wise words.” At first, i was going to use Nate. But it just didn’t feel right. So i kept putting it off and putting it off. Then one day i was at a resturant with a friend and my girlfriend called. When i hung up i told her i loved her. My friend was surprised that i acted all mushy. So just randomly i said “if you want to get the bush you gotta give the mush.” I liked this phrase: “no mush, no bush.” I wanted to put it in one of the shorts. But who do i use?
When i’m with my girlfriend, i always do different voices, acting out little skits to her just for fun. I have one voice that really gets on her nerves when i use it. It sounds like an arrogent, loser type character. Its a fun character to do, and most of all it is annoying! On youtube, annoying rules! That’s the voice i wanted to use for my new character. But what is my character. I knew who he was (his personallity) but what did he look like? I knew i wanted him to be part of The Vegie-Tables world. So he had to be a vegetable, or a fruit. I wanted him to be a main character, and fruits in the Vegie-Table world aren’t really the good guys. So this character had to be a vegetable. But what kind? I kept thinking and thinking: Broccoli, squash, lettuce, cabbage, eggplant, ect. What did i want him to be? Finally i said “to hell with it.” I’ll make him a carrot. So i did. I started sketching up different carrots to try to match the voice i had for him. I knew i wanted him to look kind of like a pimp. But he wasn’t a pimp. Just a wanna be pimp type character. I gave him gold teeth, a pimp hat, pimp glasses, and a cane. I even gave him some snazzy shoes. Now for the name. For me, names are pretty easy. It really doesn’t matter what you name a character. It’s the personallity that people relate to. So I just spit on out: TC. Sounds good enough. I’ll learn to love it.
Then i started recording his voices. I went ahead and recorded for the first two episodes. This way the second episode will be on it’s way. Then i started animating my character. This was going to be a really simple cartoon. Not much movement. 1 scene. I planned on one camera change during the episode to stress the situation. It took about a week from the time i started animating until i was finished. Then i drew up a tital page, and posted it to YouTube. Check it out!
So I have been working on my most recent episode of The Vegie-Tables for a while now. It is much longer, and more in depth than the other episodes that i’ve done. This episode actually has a story to it. Right now i am about half way through animating, I have 90% of the characters designed, and I have all of the voices recorded.
Since it is taking me longer than planned to finish this episode, i’ve decided to start a sub series. I’m still thinking on the name but it will be a much shorter, simplified type of episode. It introduces a new carrot: TC. It’s kind of like a video blog. There’s no action, just TC talking, and his charming personality. I decided to “try my best” to complete 1 of these episodes a month for the next 6 months are so, just so that i can have something to upload to keep my fans and subscribers satisfied.
So start looking for it! A new Vegie-Tables spin off starring TC. The first episode should be completed by the end of this week or early next week.
It has been about 20 days since my last stats update. About 5 days ago I decided to open another account on Tube Toolbox so maybe i can come close to my goal of 10,000 subscribers by my birthday. I created 4 new sub pages for Randall P Studios for the new account to work on. I’ve also bought a coupon for Facebook ads. I was able to get a $50 coupon for $5.95. I’ve gotten several “likes” on my facebook page by that.
Also remember, on the stats that i list, these are only for my main channel. I also have 8 other channels that i run my videos through. I also have friends and subscribers for those channels that i do not count in these stats.
